My name is David Lee Saylor, and I’m the founder of MOTION. I’ve spent my whole life chasing a better version of myself. I’m an entrepreneur, a husband, and a father — and I built MOTION because I was tired of choosing between feeling sharp and feeling good. This is the story of how an eighth-grade dropout, raised by a teenage single mother, ended up creating a clean, nicotine-free pouch made to help people focus, push further, and keep moving.

Where I come from
I wasn’t handed anything. My mom had me when she was just 14 years old, and she raised me on her own in an environment most people wouldn’t want to imagine — surrounded by drugs, alcohol, and instability. For a stretch of my life, I started down that same road myself.
What saved me was watching my mother. She never stopped working. She never stopped hustling. And she never once accepted “no” for an answer. I dropped out in the eighth grade, but I never stopped learning and I never stopped dreaming. Even as a teenager, I made myself a promise: when I had kids of my own, they would never have to live through what I lived through.
At 15, I met the girl who is now my wife of 31 years. We’ve been side by side ever since — and looking back, every hard thing I went through is exactly what built the drive in me. It gave me a reason to never quit.
I build things for a living
That drive turned into a career. I started manufacturing consumer goods in 2012, and over the years I’ve launched several brands and hundreds of products that are sold all across the country — made in our own facilities in Tennessee, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. I’ve operated in some of the most heavily regulated markets there are, and the companies my family and I have built have generated more than $100 million.
I don’t share that to brag. I share it because it’s the reason MOTION is different: I don’t outsource my standards. I make things, and I know what it takes to make them right.
The wake-up call
Around 2020, my health started slipping. By 2022 I had seen doctors and specialists, and nearly every one told me the same thing — nothing’s wrong, it’s just stress. Deep down, I knew that wasn’t the whole story.
Then I met Gary Brecka. Working on how I fueled my body, I didn’t just get back to feeling normal — I felt better than I ever had in my life. That was my wake-up call. What we put into our bodies changes how we feel, how we think, and how we show up for the people who count on us.
I didn’t want to keep reaching for sugary energy drinks. I didn’t want addictive nicotine. I wanted a clean alternative I could actually believe in — and I couldn’t find one. So I decided to build it myself.
Building MOTION the right way
I already had the manufacturing. So I ordered every natural ingredient I could get my hands on and went to work with my research and development team. It took years.
I’m a visionary, and that’s a blessing and a curse. I can see exactly how something is supposed to be, and I won’t let it go until the formula, the flavor, and the feel are all exactly right. We tested, tweaked, and threw out version after version until the seven-ingredient blend inside MOTION was perfect.
But the hardest part wasn’t even the formula — it was the pouch itself. Most pouch material, the “fleece,” is synthetic and made with plastics. I didn’t want that anywhere near my family, or yours. I refused to launch until we found a plant-based pouchthat still performed the way it needed to. Today, that’s exactly what we have. When you use MOTION, you’re not chewing on a plastic pouch — and that’s one of the things I’m proudest of. It’s the detail most people never think about, and it’s the one that sets us apart the most.
Who MOTION is for
MOTION is for the people who want to push further. The ones who don’t hit snooze. The ones chasing something bigger — whether you’re a blue-collar worker grinding to provide for your family, or building an empire, or anywhere in between.
If you’re trying to become the best version of yourself, MOTION was made for you.
Just start. Keep moving.
If there’s one thing my life has taught me, it’s this: if you have a dream, just start. There will never be a perfect time or a perfect amount of money. Momentum is everything. You have to keep moving forward — and I believe God rewards the ones who keep moving when everything around them is telling them to stop.
That’s what MOTION means to me. Forward.
Today, I get to live a life I once only dreamed about. My wife and I built every one of our companies together, from the ground up. Our two kids are grown with children of their own now, and I get to work alongside my family every single day.
From an eighth-grade dropout to this — if my story proves anything, it’s that where you start does not decide where you finish.
Never give up. Believe in yourself. Dream bigger. And keep moving.
